My Longitude
Oana Dragan
Takeno, Hyogo, Japan
Hello Everyone,
My name is Oana Dragan (first name pronounced WANNA) and I am a recent University graduate from Toronto, Canada currently living and teaching (via JET Programme) in a small rural town on the sea coast of Japan called Takeno. I studied Radio and Television Broadcasting while in school and thus, I am very passionate about documentary filmmaking. For my final year of University, my practicum team and I made a documentary in Bulgaria about a priest who taught orphaned teenagers how to box on a professional level.
Using my background and skills in filmmaking, I would like to create a short film and/or documentary about the Longitude program, villages and our experiences in India this winter. I have also been keeping regular personal music video blogs while here in Japan and you can take a look at some of them on my Vimeo page if you care to do so: http://vimeo.com/user4276243/videos. This one short film that I made in particular about a center for the disabled is password protected but you can still watch it by clicking on this link http://vimeo.com/15154257, typing in this password watchme, and clicking submit.
Other then my educational background, I love to travel and experience different cultures, which I have heavily pursued these last couple of years. I have been to America, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Japan, Cuba, Dominican Republic, England, Bulgaria and Romania. Although I live in Canada I was actually born in Romania and moved to Canada when I was six years old with my family. I do know how to speak Romanian as well.
I very much look forward to meeting all of you and sharing what will be a wonderful and life changing experience.
Cheers,
Oana Dragan
