It's hard to believe my stay in Ghana has come to an end already. The time always flies by so fast as Meshach and I run from one task to the next. The rest of the volunteer work crew will be here until late Thursday evening, but I head home tomorrow night as my “new father visa” was only good for about 12 days. After receiving an e-mail from Laura today that the dog tore up a bag full of used diapers and spread them around the kitchen, I think I may have already overstayed my documents.

The wait is over and the result was finally announced nationally at 11am this morning. Ghana's new president is NDC leader Atta Mills who narrowly defeated the current ruling party, called NPP.

Rain Forest and Canopy Rope Bridge

We took a side trip to Kakum Rain Forest today to see the very old and very tall trees and traverse the rope bridges at 120 feet up. There were seven bridges erected by Canadians and maintained and replaced by Ghanaians. Our tour guides Ebon and Rex were very unhappy with being that high up; both Ed and I had a great a time climbing up the walking trail, learning about the many uses for the trees wood and bark, and then crossing the rope bridges. Ebon said this was his second and last time for the rope bridge; it took him a very long time to cross each of the seven bridges. No one can imag

Hi friends! Sorry it's been so long since I've written. Internet access is a little sketch here. I've been thorgoughly enjoying every moment of my trip. Each day I wake up, I think hmmmmmmm, I wonder what random awesome thing will happen today! And God continues to surprise me. We are in the second village we are visiting on this trip now. It is a village that was struck by the 2004 Tsunami and was not given any federal aid to recover. A previous work crew had started a lot of houses there and we are here to finish them.

the shift key is not working on this computer so please forgive my mistakes. right now, we are out of abeka and traveling westward along the cape coast highway for some much needed rest and relaxation. today was an incredibly busy day as we were plucked from our hotel early by our tour guides, eben and rex, in a deluxe van with air conditioning. i was blown away when i saw it as i have never traveled outside of accra in any vehicle that didn't rely on movement to supply the much needed breeze. eben is actually the brother of prof, a longitude board member, who lives in providence. here in

Shawn and I attended a portion of the midnight service held at Meshach's church on New Year's Eve; there was a lot of singing and dancing with Meshach leading the service. We were able to follow the service because it was held in two languages. Everyone was dressed in very colorful and beautiful clothes. Today, New Years Day, is a holiday so a day of well deserved rest for all of us. We have some more work to do at the school. We need to complete more wall mounted counter tops that will be used as typewriter and laptop workstations. Doors need to be fabricated and then the rest is finish
